Technology's progress continues to accelerate.

2025-11-28

The past year has seen exponential progress in quantum computing. Many labs, especially Google Quantum AI, have reported steady improvements in error correction, stability, and the reliability of quantum algorithms.

With Willow's breakthroughs in 2024 and 2025, the pace is beginning to resemble the kind of continuous progress seen in AI.

For technologies that depend on cryptography, such as blockchain, this is particularly important. Most public-key systems depend on assumptions that only hold if quantum machines remain far from practical use.

As progress speeds up, timelines get shorter. Similar to the risks associated with the early Agentic Browsers and ACP (Agentic Commerce Protocol), the industry will need to move from being "quantum-aware" to being "quantum-ready."
