PC prices continue to climb.

2025-12-07

Manufacturers are increasing the prices of Windows-based computers due to rising component costs. Dell and Lenovo have already announced price increases of up to fifteen percent, mainly caused by shortages in DRAM and NAND.

Memory has become one of the most expensive components of a system, and the surge in AI-related demand is further driving up those costs across the industry.

Apple has followed a different approach for as long as we've known. Its RAM has traditionally been sold at a premium, but since the company manages both hardware and software, these prices are considered part of the ecosystem.

As PC manufacturers also raise their prices, the difference between Apple's "built-in premium" and other brands has significantly decreased.
