Ledger Customer Data Breach via Global-e Payment Processor

2026-01-05

According to ZachXBT, an independent blockchain investigator, Ledger customers were affected by a new data breach linked to its payment processor, Global-e. The incident reportedly exposed personal information such as names and contact details.

Private keys and wallet security were unaffected.

This isn't the first time Ledger users have had personal data exposed through third-party services. While self-custody protects cryptographic keys, it does not eliminate risks associated with identity, shipping info, or data storage.

For a company whose brand is built on security and privacy, responsibility extends beyond the hardware to include partners that handle customer data.

Perfection is unrealistic, but repeated incidents raise legitimate questions about Ledger and its commitment to customer data protection.
