XRPL's rename from rippled to xrpld.

2026-06-15

Today, the XRP Ledger's core software reached version 3.2.0. That software, the program every node runs to keep its own copy of the ledger and check transactions, was renamed from rippled to xrpld. The release adds no user-facing features and focuses on infrastructure.

Two things changed underneath. The software now uses up to 40 percent less memory, and its number rounding was reworked. Less memory means a node costs less to run on the same hardware.

The name carries weight too. "rippled" tied the software to Ripple, the company. "xrpld" ties it to the ledger, a public network no single firm owns.

Cheaper nodes lower the bar to running one. The more independent operators that can afford to validate, the less the network leans on any of them.
