Federal Procurement Quietly Shifts Toward Blockchain
"The Department [of Commerce] published an official hash of its quarterly GDP data release for 2025."
Chainlink and Pyth Network have been selected as partners to publish official U.S. economic data on blockchain networks. GDP figures, inflation metrics, and consumption data now flow through decentralized oracle networks to 9 different blockchains.
"The Department will continue to innovate and broaden the scope of publishing future datasets like GDP to include the use of other blockchains, oracles, and exchanges."
In addition, Federal agencies can now purchase blockchain technology as standard government infrastructure. Distributed ledger services are available through the same procurement process agencies use for cloud computing and cybersecurity tools.
This shift started in 2017 when the General Services Administration began exploring blockchain for federal use. Now, Federal agencies can treat blockchain acquisition like any other enterprise software purchase.
Enterprises go where the rules are clear. While the SEC created uncertainty in some areas, federal procurement standards offer a straightforward path.
What matters is that institutional adoption doesn't announce itself. When blockchain deployment becomes visible in government operations, the decisions are already locked in.
