AI interviews its users.

2025-12-08

Anthropic released Interviewer on December 4. It is a Claude-powered tool that conducts large-scale qualitative interviews. The system creates a plan, conducts 10- to 15-minute interviews, and groups themes for researchers to review and analyze.

Anthropic tested the product on 1,250 professionals, including the general workforce, scientists, and creatives, before launching a one-week public pilot.

The results show that AI use at work is productive but also creates uneasiness. People report that they are generally quicker, yet interviews reveal frustration, reliance, and hesitation about how their roles might change.

Creatives experienced the biggest gains but also the greatest concern about being replaced. Scientists similarly used AI for supporting tasks but resisted letting it shape and lead their research.

Workers say they mostly use AI to support their roles (augmentation), but Claude's data shows that actual AI tasks are almost evenly split between supporting and fully automating work.

There has never been a better time for conducting and analyzing research at scale. It changes how organizations gather feedback, audit, and measure the impact of impending change.
