Coinbase announced the launch of zero-commission U.S. stock trading alongside prediction markets on its platform. This makes Coinbase closer to an all-encompassing, modernized financial platform.

This removes one of the last reasons users needed a separate brokerage account.

Coinbase is entering a space dominated by platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi, but the key advantage is availability to U.S. traders. Polymarket remains inaccessible to the U.S, while Coinbase is distributing Kalshi's prediction markets directly to its existing U.S. user base.

Taken together, this is less about adding features and more about consolidation. Coinbase is becoming the hub where trading and speculation converge, rather than making users navigate multiple apps.
